Energy efficiency is key today - for both economic and ecological reasons. This is where BASF's High Productivity Plus (HPP) variant of Ultramid® and Ultradur® comes in: With its ability to be processed at lower melt temperatures, HPP accelerates cycle times by around 30% and significantly reduces energy consumption.

This innovative approach leads to higher output without compromising quality, making it an ideal solution for manufacturers eager to enhance productivity while minimizing their ecological footprint. Additionally, this resin requires lower injection pressure, which reduces wear and tear on equipment and extends the lifespan of molds and other components. ​

The Ultramid® product range

Ultramid® polyamide grades are available in various molecular weights or viscosities, have a range of additives and can be reinforced with glass fibers or minerals. More detailed information on the individual products can be found in the Ultramid® product range:

Ultramid® A (PA 66)

Ultramid® A in its unreinforced state, is an extremely rigid, abrasion-resistant, heat-resistant and hard material. It is one of the preferred materials for parts subject to mechanical and thermal stresses in electrical, mechanical and automotive engineering.

• UL94 V-0 at 0.8mm
• Long-term heat aging (125°C, 1,000 hours)
• Seal integrity after thermal shock (- 55°C to 125°C) and water immersion

Ultramid® B (PA6)

Ultramid® B, in its unreinforced state, is a tough, hard material affording parts with good damping characteristics and high shock resistance even in a dry state and at low temperatures. It is particularly tough and easy to process.

Translucent products are also available under the name Ultramid® Vision. 

Ultramid® C (PA 66/6)

Ultramid® C are grades of co-polyamides made from PA6 or PA66 monomers that exhibit different melting points or a lower crystallinity according to their composition.

Ultramid® D (PA6 and PA66)

Ultramid® D are blends of PA6 and PA66 and other polyamides with customized properties, available as unreinforced grades (e.g., Ultramid® Deep Gloss D3K) and reinforced grades (e.g. Ultramid® Endure D3G7 BK20560).

Ultramid® Endure (PA)

Heat-resistant polyamide for automotive applications in the high temperature range. 

Ultramid® Endure extends the application of polyamide into the high temperature range. ​It is a glass-fiber reinforced, heat-resistant polyamide that combines excellent heat aging resistance with good processing properties of PA 66. It can withstand continuous use over 3,000 hours at up to 220°C and brief temperature peaks of up to 240°C.

Ultramid® S Balance (PA 610)

Ultramid® S Balance, mostly made from natural resources, is particularly chemical resistant and known for its low moisture absorption. Ultramid® S Balance is for applications where components come in contact with media.

Ultramid® T KR (PA6T/6)

Ultramid® T KR, a polyphthalamide (PPA) with the lowest mold temperatures and highest toughness of all PPAs, offers good dimensional stability, high chemical resistance and constant mechanical properties for a wide range of applications.

Ultramid® Advanced (PPA)

Ultramid® Advanced polyphthalamide (PPA) is ideal for lightweight, high-performance parts for many applications – from the automotive and the E&E industries to mechanical engineering and consumer goods, the right PPA for the right part.

Glass-fiber reinforced Ultramid® (PA)

Ultramid® glass-fiber reinforced polyamide grades are distinguishable by high mechanical strength, hardness, rigidity, thermostability and resistance to hot lubricants and hot water. Parts made from them show dimensional stability and high creep strength. Glass-fiber reinforced Ultramid® T also has extraordinarily high heat resistance (up to 280°C)

Reinforced and unreinforced Ultramid® grades with flame retardants (PA)

The modified Ultramid® grades C3U, A3X2G5, A3X2G7, A3X2G10, B3U50G6, A3U42G6, A3XZC3, B3UG4, B3U30G6, and T KR 4365 G5 are particularly suitable for electrical components with high flame retardance and high tracking resistance.

Mineral- and glass bead-filled Ultramid® (PA)

Materials filled with minerals and glass beads show increased rigidity, good dimensional stability, low tendency to warp, optically appealing surfaces, partly excellent ability for metallizing and good flow characteristics.
